At Woodland Public School, we believe that parents are important and make a real difference to children's learning. When parents are involved children do better and achieve more. School Council allows everyone involved in school life - parents, learners, teachers, school staff and the wider community to work together to support the school. It also allows all parents to have a say in their children's education by affording the opportunity to express their views and ideas.

Parental involvement is one of the most significant factors contributing to a child’s success in school. When parents are involved in their children’s education, the level of student achievement increases. Students attend school more regularly, they complete more homework assignments in a consistent manner, and demonstrate more positive attitudes toward school.

The Woodland School Council is an energetic and dedicated group of parents who meet regularly throughout the school year to provide input on decision making and to work corroboratively with the principal and staff on behalf of the students of Woodland. Traditional fund-raising events such as the Strawberry Social and Breakfast with Santa are highlights of our year thanks to the work of our School Council. We value the strong partnership that we have established with the parent council and community over the years and welcome all parents to join us for the upcoming year.

School Council Meetings are scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of each month starting at 6pm in our school library.
